Where You Should Store Your Rental Dumpster Bin

Renting a dumpster bin is ideal when preparing for a construction project. With this, you can load all kinds of junk into the container to get rid of the mess. This is a convenient and cost-effective way to manage waste removal on your property.

As a first-time renter, you may be wondering where to place your dumpster bin on your property.

Where to Place the Dumpster

In residential areas, you may find it more efficient to place your dumpster bin on the street. Doing so prevents you from blocking the driveway and saves you from damaging your yard. If the street where you live is public property, however, you will likely need a permit first before placing the dumpster bin in front of your home.

Furthermore, if your dumpster bin is fairly large, you may want to consider storing it in your driveway. While this can cause damage to the pavement, this may only be your only option to avoid blocking other areas. Fortunately, you will not need a permit if you are planning to place the dumpster in your driveway or another part of your private property.

Where You Should Never Place Your Dumpster

Do not place your dumpster bin on sloped surfaces. Construction debris can be quite heavy, and as the dumpster takes on more and more weight of scrap metal and other building materials, it may slide or skate down the street. This may be particularly dangerous during winter, early spring or late fall when snow or frost is present.

Another area you should also steer clear of is your neighbor’s property. In the event something hazardous or harmful occurs, you may be responsible for potential property damage. Thus, you should keep an eye on your dumpster bin and make sure it’s within your property lines at all times.
